Literacy with Focus

Literacy deserves and demands focus, and for over 40 years, Lexia has delivered it. All of Lexia’s attention is given to this one critical area of learning. Through this focus, Lexia has developed a breadth and depth of expertise unlike any in the literacy field. Over the years, many partnerships have been formed with world-renowned authors, to set new standards for content quality, develop advanced learning technologies, and lead the charge on innovative approaches to literacy’s biggest issues.

Literacy with Structure

Lexia solutions are very different from edtech games and test preparation programs. They are founded upon a structured and systematic approach to literacy instruction that builds upon prior learning in a sequential manner—from simple to complex—ultimately improving each teacher’s ability to deliver critical literacy concepts, strengthening the relationship with, and transitioning ownership of learning to the student.

Literacy with Confidence

Through innovative, effective, and proven literacy solutions, Lexia provides students and teachers confidence in their own abilities. Solutions are built upon the science of reading and structured literacy, delivering the systematic and explicit instruction learners need to truly comprehend, retain, and apply their literacy skills. Lexia’s technology strengthens the relationship between teachers and students, helping them build connections that lead to trust, understanding, and true learning.

Literacy with Rigour

Lexia stands as one of the most rigorously researched and independently evaluated reading programmes in the world.  This commitment to evidence-based, scientific research demonstrates the efficacy of our literacy interventions while guiding future development.  A recent UK efficacy study by the Education Endowment Foundation found Lexia to be effective in accelerating literacy skills and was rated as a low-cost solution.

Literacy for All

Both primary and secondary literacy skills solutions are centred around a personalised approach to learning and are designed to give students more control over the time, place, path, and pace of their progress. Through Lexia’s digital-led approach, educators can confidently provide more equitable learning experiences to every student, supporting a wide range of needs, including dyslexia and SEND, EAL/ELL and pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Independent student driven learning

Ongoing data to drive instructional priorities

Resource for face-to-face instruction

Independent student-driven learning

Students work independently to develop critical reading and language skills through individualised, motivating (and fun!) learning paths. All students, regardless of their skill level, can each work at their own pace and the teacher is notified (on web-based reports and via email) only when they require support.

Ongoing data to drive instructional priorities

As students work independently in the online activities of Lexia's instructional programmes, real-time performance data is collected by embedded assessment, replacing the burden of traditional monitoring and testing. Educators can access data reports online through their myLexia accounts

Resources for face-to-face instruction

Teachers are provided with printable resources for face-to-face instruction and independent student practice. Based on student data, Lexia recommends specific resources for individual and group instruction that fit flexibly into existing classroom routines.

Research-proven

Lexia’s ongoing commitment to peer-reviewed efficacy research and gold-standard outcome studies lead the industry and are at the centre of our pedagogical approach.
All of Lexia’s products are built around the latest scientific findings in education and are tested for outcomes in schools.
The EEF has conducted an independent study into the efficacy of Lexia Core5® Reading. In their report, they conclude that in as little as 16 hours use, “children offered Lexia made the equivalent of two additional months’ progress in reading, on average, compared to other children. These results have a high security rating.”
In addition, subgroup analysis on FSM pupils represented an effect of three months’ additional progress.

Why Lexia is a cost-effective reading intervention solution

Prevention

Lexia identifies and targets skills gaps, as they emerge, to tackle them instantly. This saves money on future costly interventions.

Scalable resource

Due to its technology-based approach, Lexia provides a scalable solution, allowing educators to support all pupils – regardless of needs or ability.

Reusable licenses

Pupil licenses can be redistributed after a pupil completes the programme or the teacher deems the required standard is met, adding further value to your investment.

Easy to implement & sustain

Traditional approaches usually involve training many staff and numerous implementation days which can be challenging and costly to deliver. If staff move on, training investments can erode. Lexia’s technology-led solutions consistently provide the systematic and structured support pupils require, enabling an easy to manage future-proofed solution.

Easy to monitor & manage

One teacher or LSA can comfortably monitor a class of up to thirty pupils. Students can also learn independently and at home. Reports are produced in real-time, allowing educators to understand progress, and teachers are alerted when additional support may be required. Embedded assessment avoids the disruption and admin of traditional testing.

Supporting staff

With automatic personalisation and independent learning, Lexia frees up teachers’ time to teach. For educators who are less confident in teaching reading skills, Lexia provides printable scripted lesson plans and resources to assist in targeted support. Plus, Lexia's team of literacy experts are on hand to support at any time.

What teachers say

Lexia’s literacy programmes are not only research-proven but are also highly rated by educators.

Thanks to the programme’s quality and exceptional customer support, LexiaUK has received many EdTech Impact awards including:

  • Top Student Attainment Gap Reduction
  • Top Student Knowledge Tool
  • No.1 in SEND Resources.
